Last month, I attended DomCon in LA. It was a birthday gift to myself, as I have always wanted to attend. DomCon was celebrating it’s 15th anniversary, and it was the weekend after my birthday, so it seemed like a good sign I should attend. I was only there for the weekend, from May 11-13, but the convention runs for a whole week.
I have attended many kink events here in the Bay Area. Many have been FemmeDomme oriented and others mixed energy. As a female dominant, I enjoy events with strong female energy, and while this was an event for both female and male dominants, there was LOTS of fabulous FemmeDomme energy swirling around. DomCon is an event for professionals and lifestyle enthusiasts alike, and was started by Mistress Cyan. You can read the history of DomCon here.
One of my favorite activities was sitting in the hotel lobby watching the non-kinky folk stare at the convention attendees gathered in the lobby. Folks were dressed in their finest leather, rubber, vinyl, lacy, black red, BDSM outfits. The actual convention area was blocked off and had security, but us kinksters enjoyed the lobby and restaurants as well.
It was very empowering for me to be at an event with such a strong female dominant presence, and one that acknowledged the legitimacy of professional domination. I enjoyed being a part of the Dominant women who strutted about, using their sexuality as a possible weapon and not getting punished for it I loved seeing Dommes of ALL ages being trailed by their submissives, especially the male ones. No catcalls, no grabbing, just being admired.
It’s also a gender fluid environment. I liked seeing altar egos or true genders embraced and on display as some people born with boy parts freely exhibited their feminine side and wore dresses in PUBLIC! There was even a cross-dressing pageant hosted by Alice in Bondageland. My sissy had broken out in hives, so we didn’t compete this year.
To be able to do this and not get harassed is something many cis-gendered white men cannot appreciate. They take this freedom for granted. I felt at this convention, the playing field was even, if not reversed. And it was FUN!
Shopping:
The shopping was fantastic and I bought a few things in the incredible vendor area. I love new things!
The soft green flogger is from Bunny Flogger. This one is so much fuller and heavier than my previous one. It has such a nice swing to it and throws nicely. This is perfect for sensual play.
I call the red thing my Dragon’s Tongue. It can provide a sensual little lick with the tip or provide a stingy swat. It depends on my mood. This was purchased from Agreeable Agony, and it was exactly what I was looking for to add to my tools.
Another thing at the Agreeable Agony booth caught my eye. These beautiful soy candles in the glass pitcher. I have a few friends that like wax play and these keep Mistress J’s fingers from getting burned. They also clean up nicely.
Leather by Danny had these cute little CBT boards. I really like this because the cock stays in place and I can torment it any way I like. I was being nice here, I used a shoe lace. But for really bad boys, I have some scratchy twine that will feel great on those tender parts.
